| The Death of a Life Eternal: Chapter 3
It appears now that hell lies empty, for if it is not the sinners that fill its abyss, who does? Hell is only for he who would deny God upon his day of judgment, but who is so blind as to deny God when faced with all his glory? There are some. I have been to hell, and I have seen heaven; and only one of those is real. Pain is real, bliss is an illusion. If you cut yourself, do you not bleed? Do you not feel the rush of pain? Are you not reminded that, indeed, you are alive? Tell me truly, to create paradise, which is easier: to provide a man with all he desires, even though he rarely knows what he truly desires; or to alter his perception so that he now desires only what he has? Of course, the latter is simplest. In heaven, the illusion of perfection is created in much the same way. There, one’s only desire is to worship God. Your visions of beauty and eternal reward are the product of worldly thoughts. Nothing is gained in heaven; instead it is your free will that is taken.
| The Death of a Life Eternal: Chapter 2
But why worry ourselves so much with sin? The church has done so well in plaguing the minds of its faithful with fears of sin and salvation. It is as if we believe sin is injurious to God himself! God, benevolent dictator that he is, has formed his decrees not to protect himself, (for who would worship a god that he himself could destroy?) but rather to protect each of us from ourselves. Sin is not as much evil as it is simply unhealthy. For this we thank Jesus, who conquered death for all of us; and as unsettling as it may be to know that every sin is another strike of the hammer against the nail that pierces his hand, that truly is its extent.
| The Death of a Life Eternal: Chapter 1
Eternal life is easily obtained by conquering sin, perfection is humanly possible. Does not God promise to protect us from temptation greater than that which we can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13)? Therefore, no truly repentant sinner will regress to sin. Only the unrepentant and the disobedient will choose sin. And where, then, is their hope for eternal life? Salvation is in repentance and repentance alone (Isaiah 30:15). Just as Jesus conquered death, so too can I. I simply choose not to. What’s your excuse?
| The Death of a Life Eternal
My quest for life after death has gave rise to more questions than answers, but what answers it has given me are similarly intriguing. What is to follow will discuss those answers I have found, as well as those questions for which answers have not yet been found.
| Alone
Alone am I, one in billions. To remind me, my calls for help echo silence. There I stand, in a crowded room, alone as ever, I scream aloud. They don’t hear me, no one does. I stand alone, my path is my own. Alone am I.
